AI: an opt-out right on behalf of performers

Your voice, your choice: an opt-out right for performers

Your voice, your choice: an opt-out right for performers

Artificial intelligence technologies exploit performers’ work without their consent to train and generate content.

The artists’ opinion

The more than 49,000 artists associated with Adami have the opportunity to oppose, through their company, the use of their work for AI training. This is known as the opt-out right.

After consultation, they expressed themselves in favour of an opt-out pronounced by Adami.

By exercising this right, Adami is affirming performers’ opposition to any non-consensual use of their performances.

Under French law

This decision is in compliance with articles L. 211-3 8° and L.122-5-3 of the French Intellectual Property Code, which govern the use of works for training purposes by allowing authors and performers to object.

From now on, AI training based on sound, audiovisual and cinematographic performances by performers associated with Adami will require prior authorisation.

Any operator wishing to use these performances must therefore request them.

This statement of objection is supplemented by a summary in machine-readable XML format, which can be accessed at the following address: https://www.adami.fr/ADAMI_TDM-Optout.xml

We remain committed to protecting performers’ rights in the face of this challenge, and call on digital players and public authorities to guarantee ethical AI that respects the creative world, without which generative AI could not exist.

“Artificial intelligence must not feed on artists’ talent without their consent. This battle is essential for the preservation of creation and performers’ rights. As it has for the past 70 years, alongside the unions, Adami continues to work to defend their interests.”

Anne Bouvier,
Chairman of the Board of Directors
